About Barry

Barry in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan is a wonderful place to live with great facilities and superb scenery on the doorstep. A vast number of local schools provide excellent education from Nursery level up to Comprehensive and Barry College is home to those studying further education.

There are numerous parks and some stunning beaches all within a few miles of each other as the town is set on the coast of the Bristol Channel.

Travel links are excellent as Barry is just a few miles from the M4 Motorway and Cardiff Wales Airport is literally minutes away. Train and Bus services run regularly to and from the town.

Sporting opportunities are varied with many sporting local leagues including football, rugby , cricket  to name a few. Barry Town Football Club are based in the heart of the town playing at their home stadium of Jenner Park. Barry also has its own Leisure Centre ( with swimming pool ) and many indoor and outdoor pitches which are maintained by the Local Council.

There are an abundance of pubs, restaurants and local shops in Barry and as Barry is just a few miles from the Welsh Capital Cardiff so a shopping trip or day / night out is plentiful in choice.

Famous local attraction Barry Island Pleasure Park / beach is still a firm favourite with day trippers and a recently agreed multi million pound investment in the area will see some exciting future developments. There is also a boating lake at Cold Knap.

Television smash hit comedy Gavin and Stacey was based and filmed on location in Barry and the surrounding areas and brings many tourists in to the town as fans of the show visit all the local filming hot spots. ( see Gavin and Stacey page within this website for more details ).
